Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010: Departure for Georgia
Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010: Return home
PARTICIPANTS
This camp is open to Senior/University athletes and club rowers, experienced and novice, however a commitment to a winter training program is mandatory to ensure that all participants have the necessary level of fitness.
It is strongly recommended that novice rowers attend 1-2 tank rowing sessions in preparation for the camp.
LOCATION
TRANSPORTATION
The team will travel by van, departing Thusday evening, Feb. 11th. It is an eighteen hour trip. At the end of the camp, the vans will depart from Georgia on Saturday, Feb. 20 after practice and arrive back in Guelph on Sunday Feb. 21, early morning. The vans will make a number of stops for coffee, washroom break, stretching, etc.
ACCOMMODATIONS
The cabins have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, open concept living room with a fireplace and dining area, and screened porch. The bedrooms have two double beds in each. Linen and towels are supplied. Kitchens are equipped with stoves/ovens, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and dishes.
See the Park Photo Gallery.
FOOD
Athletes will be responsible for making their own breakfasts, and packing snacks to have at the course. Lunches and dinners likewise the responsibility of the participants. It is suggested that everyone bring some home made frozen items and baked goods, which will assist in having food available immediately upon arrival.
ROWING FACILITY
The rowing facility is excellent. There is a fully buoyed 2000m course, and miles of water to row.
CAMP PHILOSOPHY
There will be a strong technical component to the rowing sessions in hopes of laying a good foundation for crews to build upon, on their return to Canadian spring rowing. Athletes will row in a variety of boats, sweeping and sculling, with an emphasis on endurance training. Although challenging physically, there will be a commitment to fun, including beach volleyball games, tournaments and an afternoon sightseeing. Peterborough Rowing Club's 2006 Trip Photos.
